My first article - By: Gary Boggan

Hey guys, this is my first article and today you will meet me, the writer. My name is Gary Boggan, I am 17 years old, from Memphis, Tenn. And I have been around racing my whole life.
I have raced for the past 10 years. I have raced Karts, Mini-Stock’s and next year I will pilot the Boggan Racing Auto Center Specialists/Cliff Carters Body Shop/Dirtworks IMCA Modified. I plan to compete for the 2008 USCS Open Wheel Modified Rookie of the Year /Championship as well as possibly competing for the 2008 Southern Modified Promotions Championship. All while running bi-weekly for the championship at my hometown track, Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. The team is looking forward to this coming year. As well as I am looking forward to bringing to you information, news, previews, recaps, and driver interviews from around the South.
I have spent the past 10 years racing and pit crewing. In 2000 I was a 3 time track champion at two different tracks. In 2001 I claimed a 6th place at the Indoor Kart Nationals. In 2005 I was 10thin points atMemphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, Tennessee in the Mini-Stock class. I have also spent the past three years studying and learning setups for all types of racecars including Street Stocks, Modifieds, Latemodels, and Sprintcars.
Aside from racing I am your everyday average teenager. I enjoy going to high school football games, parties, and hanging out with my friends. During the winter I am a competitive bowler. I have been since I was about 3 years old. This year has been a hard year for me, so I’m only carrying a 160 avg. I spend a lot of time doing that, as well as my school work. I’m currently in 11th grade at Gateway Christian School, which is a home school. I plan to finish high school then go to college for Mechanical Engineering.
I’m interested in things like PS2, girls, and collecting die-cast racecars. My favorite drivers include Jerry Inmon, Bill Frye, Dean Carpenter, Rick Eckert, Sammy Swindell, Jeff Swindell, Eddie Gallagher, Jeff Howell, Ben Reed, Kody Mea, Bubba Jones, and Chuck Fletcher. To me there is nothing better than watching 20 cars haul the mail getting into turn 1 sideways.
An idea of what all I have in store for you in the coming weeks is this: An interview with Jeff Howell, who finished top 5 in USCS Modified Points. Ben Reed who was the co-champion in the USCS Modified Points Series in 2006. Chuck Fletcher, who has raced Street Stocks, Sprint cars, Limited Late models, and next year is undecided on Crate Lates or Super Lates. As well as a couple of surprises, with a few legends in the Late model and Modified World. As well as season reviews of the USCS Modified Series, AMP Late models, MSRA Late models. Also, previews of the 2008 USCS, AMP, and MSRA season, as well as the new SMP Modified Series.
Thanks for reading, this is my first installment, so please give me a time or two to get the bugs worked out as I have never had a job writing for a website. If you have comments or questions please feel free to email me at theatokaoutlaw90@yahoo.com
Thanks and Have a great day,
Gary Boggan.
