Heritage 101 Night 2
Posted Jody Shannon on August 2nd, 2008 | Filed under Commentary, Jody Shannon, The DRC
- Easily the best modified feature I have seen this season. Track was smooth and racy from top to bottom. Hess and Arpin battled early for the lead, with the two swapping it back and forth several times. Behind them Joey Kramer was a man possessed, passing cars using the extreme highside. With around twenty laps to go Kramer caught the leaders and looked like he was on his way to the win. The top three cars ran side by side for three or four laps before third running Dave Hess used the low groove to pass Arpin who was in the middle, and Kramer who was against the walls. Hess opened up a lead in traffic and looked to have it locked up, but out of nowhere Arpin made one more dash at him, and fell just short at the line. Also having great runs were Jacob Hawkins who passed Kramer in the closing laps for third and Jess Hartman who came from provisional land to finish a strong eleventh. Despite the dusty track conditions and late start the race again proved to be exciting and with some fine tuning of their product, Brushcreek Motortsports could be a premier racing facility. In victory lane Hess chose the Harley over the $10,000 cash prize. In his post race interview he said this is his career highlight and put this win over his $10,000 to win Late Model feature win. We will have video from all this weekend’s action up on the site sometime tomorrow or in the wee hours of Monday morning.
