Three Race Weekend Up Next For Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the nation’s best drivers will make a three race swing in three states to start off the month of April. The nation’s premier national touring series will make its first stop at the Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, MS on Friday, April 4th. Then on Saturday, April 5th the LOLMDS will travel to Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, LA. The final leg of the three race weekend will find the LOLMDS traveling to Outlaw Motorsports Park in Muskogee, OK on Sunday, April 6th. All three LOLMDS sanctioned events will be complete shows that include Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a 50-Lap Feature event, paying $10,000 to win/$800 to start.
In the 2012 edition of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at the Don Cliburn-promoted Jackson Motor Speedway, Don O’Neal withstood a strong field of entrants before a record-setting crowd and took the victory over some very stiff local competition. In addition to the LOLMDS at Jackson Motor speedway, Crates, Modifieds and Super Streets will compete as support classes. Inclement Weather Pushes Spring Nationals Events at Tri-County and Smoky Mountain to April 4-5
With the high threat of rain all weekend, officials from the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series have made the decision early this morning to push back the March 28-29 events at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina and Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee to April 4-5. Everything will remain the same with the doubleheader weekend except that it will now take place a week later than originally scheduled.
Chris Madden, after two podium finishes and the Saturday night ‘Spring Thaw’ win at Volunteer Speedway, finds himself atop the series point standings by just four markers over Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist of Moorsburg, Tennessee. Eric Wells of Hazard, Kentucky is third in the tour points while Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tennessee holds down the fourth spot. Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Georgia rounds out the top five in the points heading into a huge doubleheader of racing in North Carolina and Tennessee.
Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series Adds Boyd's Speedway to Complete 2014 Schedule!
The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Old Man’s Garage has announced the addition of Boyd’s Speedway to complete the 2014 schedule of 10 races in just 13 days during the Tenth Anniversary running of the tour.
Boyd’s Speedway, located in Ringgold, Georgia, will join the nine other tracks and become Round #7 of ten events and will be a 35-lap, $3,500 to win event on Tuesday night, July 29 during week two of the tour. This will be the first-ever series visit to the David Duplissey and Dale McDowell owned track, which is located near the Tennessee/Georgia state line.
Moyer Goes To Work On Outside To Net World of Outlaws Late Model Series Triumph At I-30 Speedway
Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., blasted from third to first on a lap-18 restart and marched on to capture Saturday night’s 50-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main at I-30 Speedway.
The 56-year-old Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer sailed around the outside of WoO LMS regulars Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., and Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., rounding turns one and two and was in front for good when lap 19 was scored. He turned back a late challenge from Lanigan while negotiating lapped traffic to earn $10,150 in front of his home-state fans.
Ponderosa Speedway Set for 42nd Annual Season Opener on Saturday April 5
Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff are set to kick off the 2014 racing season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as the track’s 42nd Annual Season Opener will take place on Saturday April 5.
The opening event of the 2014 season will take place on Saturday April 5, as will the following week’s event on Saturday April 12, before action returns to the traditional Friday evening of racing beginning on Friday April 18 with the 2nd Annual Spring Showdown for Ray Cook’s Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals presented by Schaeffer Racing Oil.
Thunderstorm Washes Out World of Outlaws Late Model Series Program at Lone Star Speedway
A severe thunderstorm struck Lone Star Speedway moments before the drivers’ meeting was scheduled to start on Friday, forcing the cancellation of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series racing program.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and hail pummeled the three-eighths-mile oval, leaving track and series officials no choice but to call off the evening’s scheduled 50-lap, $10,000-to-win event. It was the first rainout of the 2014 World of Outlaws Late Model Series campaign.

Summit Racing Equipment will be returning in 2014 as a divisional sponsor for the fourth consecutive season at Sharon Speedway. Summit presented the Econo Mod division in 2011 and moved over to the Modified division in 2012 and will continue presenting the division for the upcoming season. Summit has stepped up in an even greater role in 2014 and will present a nightly hard charger award for the (E) Modified, Stock Car, and Econo Mod divisions.
At each weekly “Steel Valley Thunder” event during the 85th anniversary season, the driver that advances the most positions from his or her starting spot to his or her finishing position in each of the three divisions will receive a $25 gift card good for any purchase at the nearby nationally-based Tallmadge, Ohio company. In the event of more than one driver advancing the same number of positions, the tie will be broken by the highest finishing driver.
Rick Eckert Notches Second Straight Win in Chiller Thriller at Winchester Speedway!
York, Pennsylvania star Rick Eckert was back in victory lane for the second straight Saturday night on March 22 at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Virginia! Aboard Paul Crowl’s #7 entry once again, Rick timed in fourth quickest during the qualifying session prior to picking up the win in heat race action.
After rolling off from the outside of the front row in the 35-lap ‘Chiller Thriller,’ Rick grabbed the point at the drop of the green flag and held the top spot throughout the unsanctioned event. "Scrub" eventually netted the $2,500 triumph for beating J.T. Spence, Gregg Satterlee, Greg Roberson, and Kenny Pettyjohn to the checkers.
