Jared Landers tames Cherokee Speedway while taking second-straight March Madness event

Jared Landers of Batesville, AR made a clean sweep of the 2013 edition of March Madness at Cherokee Speedway on Sunday Evening March 3rd co-sanctioned by the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series and the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series.
 
This was back to back March Madness wins for the driver of the Clint Bowyer Motorsports entry. This was also Landers’ first-career Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series victory as he opened the 31st year of competition for SAS leading all 60 laps of the main event for the $10,000 payday after starting in fourth spot. Landers also became the 158th different winner in series history.

Green Valley Speedway added to Southern All Stars Series Schedule for Crimson & White 50 Third Alabama track brings ’13 slate to 22 events across Southeast

Officials with the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series have added an event at Dennis Harker’s Green Valley Speedway for September.

The SAS will visit the Glencoe, AL speed plant for the first time since July 22, 2007 when South Carolina native Dion Deason captured the main event victory. The series will compete for $5,000 to win / $300 to start on the September 7th event during the track’s Crimson & White 50.

Ice Bowl XXII just a few weeks away, Super Late Models $6,000 to win January 3-6th

Officials with the Talladega Short Track have announced further details regarding the Ice Bowl XXII on January 3-6, 2013 (Thursday through Sunday).

The track’s website located at www.TalladegaShortTrack.com has all details regarding, classes and purses, start times each day, admission prices and rules for each division competing. The Super Late Models will once again headline the racing weekend with a 50-lap $6,000 to win event and the Crate Late Models will compete for a $3,000 to win / $250 to start event. The Sportsman (Limited Late Models) will be gunning for $2,500 to win / $200 to start. The Super Late Models and Sportsman will be officiated by the Southern All Stars crew for the weekend, the registration and tech will occur at the SAS trailer and series officials will be on hand to help with the weekend’s events.

Randy Weaver claims third Southern All Stars Title, Mike Weeks wins Rookie of the Year honors

 Randy Weaver almost put the perfect exclamation point on what was a great 2012 season.
 
“Almost” – meaning Weaver led 97 of the 100 laps before cutting down a right rear tire in the series’ final event on November 18th at Cherokee Speedway during the Southern All Stars-sanctioned 22nd Annual Blue/Grey 100. Weaver’s season still ended with him claiming his third series championship in just four seasons (2009, 2010 and now 2012).

Gobbler 50 paying $5,000 to win for SAS Late Models at Cleveland opens finale weekend

The rich tradition of the ‘Gobbler’ continues with the 24th annual running of the East Tennessee classic on Saturday November 17th at Cleveland Speedway.

The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will once again sanction the annual event which pays tribute to track founder Joe Lee Johnson and pays $5,000 to win / $300 to start. There will be a complete show of Practice, VP Racing Fuels Time Trials, Hoosier Racing Tire Last Chance Showdowns and the 50-lap main event. Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC is the defending race winner while Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA picked up the 2010 event win.

Ice Bowl XXII/Talladega Short Track (Jan. 3-6, 2013) to be officiated by SAS

The 22nd edition of the Ice-Bowl at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will be in full swing the first full weekend of January (3-6) Thursday-Sunday 2013 at The Hornet’s Nest.

This season the Super Late Models will again race for $6,000 to the winner / $500 to start along with all supporting divisions. New for 2013, the race will be officiated by the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) crew. Race Director Chris Tilley and his crew will spear-head the Super Late Model and Sportsman/LLM program from registration to the technical process and running the competition of the mega 2013 lid lifter.
